About This Tool

Last Updated: April 15, 2026

What Is This Tool?

This is an independent, free eligibility estimator designed to help Ontario residents understand whether they may qualify for the Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) and, if so, what co-pay bracket they are likely to fall into.

The tool was built specifically to help Ontario residents navigate the 2026 CDCP changes — including the expanded rollout to adults aged 18 to 54 — by answering three simple questions: your age, your adjusted family net income, and whether you have private dental insurance.

Why We Built It

The CDCP rollout has been phased over several years, and many Canadians — particularly those newly eligible in 2025 and 2026 — are unsure whether they qualify, what their co-pay will be, or where to apply. Official government resources, while authoritative, can be difficult to navigate.

This tool exists to provide a fast, plain-language answer before you invest time applying through official channels. It is intended as a starting point, not a final determination.

How the Estimator Works

The estimator applies the publicly known CDCP eligibility rules:

  • No access to private dental insurance (through work, school, or individually purchased plans)
  • Adjusted family net income below $90,000 CAD as reported to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
  • Meets the age-based rollout schedule (seniors first, then younger age groups through 2025–2026)

Co-pay brackets are applied as follows: 0% co-pay for income under $70,000; 40% co-pay for income between $70,000 and $79,999; 60% co-pay for income between $80,000 and $89,999. Income of $90,000 or more renders an applicant ineligible under current rules.

Important Limitations

This tool is not affiliated with the Government of Canada, Health Canada, Sun Life Financial, or the Canada Revenue Agency.

Results are estimates only. Final eligibility determinations are made by Health Canada and the CRA. Edge cases — such as changes in insurance status mid-year, newly eligible dependants, or recent income changes — may affect your actual eligibility in ways this tool cannot capture.

This tool does not constitute medical advice, financial advice, or legal advice.
